Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the results and effect of a model mobile mammography for breast cancer screening.

Materials and Methods: Between October 2004 and December 2006, 10,553 women were performed with screening mammography using mobile mammography. All mammograms were interpreted by radiologists according to American College of Radiology (ACR) Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System (BIRADS). We retrospectively followed women who received mobile mammograms and had positive mammographic findings using telephone survey, because we could not use the database of national cancer registry at that time. Institutional review board was approved and informed consent was waived. A telephone survey was conducted from Oct. 1- Nov. 1, 2007.

Results: Among the 10,553women, 1,006 women had positive finding. The recall rate was 9.5%. Of 1,006 women, 430 women (42.7%) responded to the telephone survey, 183 women (18.2%) refused to the survey, and 393 women (39.1%) were not connected the line. Among 430 survey respondents, 18 (0.4%) have a family history for breast cancer, 188 (43.7%) were premenopausal women, 122 (50.4%) have a history of hormone replacement therapy, 251 (58.4%) ever had mammogram. Two hundred seventy ine (64.9%) were performed additional mammography or ultrasound, and 34 (7.9%) were performed biopsy. Of 34 biopsies, malignancy was six (PPV1, 1.4%, PPV2, 17.6%). Cancer stages were stage 0 (n =
1), stage 1 (n = 2), stage 2 (n = 2), and stage 3 (n = 1). The majority of respondents (59.3%) were generally satisfied with mobile mammography, and only 5.8% were not satisfied.

Conclusion: Mobile mammography is optimal and effective method in breast cancer screening. It can be useful in reaching medically underserved women and in improving awareness of breast cancer.
